Deadmau5 show at Sasquatch ‘09.

It’s weird to see this video, I recognize a lot of people in the audience.  It was by far the craziest show I’ve ever been to.  I am still unaware of who I dancing with. I’m told he was foreign.

This is a shot I took at Sasquatch of Passion Pit.  I saw them on Jimmy Fallon last night and was disappointed they were much better for him than for the Squatch crowd.

Conditions were perfect for a great show.  The members of Bon Iver were standing about ten feet from me also watching, there was a huge (incredibly excited) crowd, they were the newcomers….. the band everyone was excited for.

I guess that wasn’t enough.  They were mediocre…. quiet… and the set wasn’t filled with enough energy.  I think this is a band that will get better with time but it’s too bad they didn’t blow everyone away.

I enjoyed watching Passion Pit at Sasquatch with Justin Vernon about 10 feet from me watching the same show.

I didn’t record the entire song because-

  1. Inevitable tears were making my vision completely blurred and
  2. I needed to be there for that moment.

Hearing Skinny Love through crackly headphones stirs up a lot of emotion… to hear that live just took it to another place.

Justin has a way of making you go through what he went through.  Not just lyrically but the way he means every word he sings.  It doesn’t come across as a song he’s played over and over again.  It always seems like “Emma” is in the audience.

Just to give you a bit of a preview of how my weekend was. I took this video on Saturday night at easily one of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

Please see Bon Iver live whenever possible.  More pictures/video to come.

Au revoir

In t-20 I will squeeze into a van (with a decent size dream-catcher) and caravan with 4 other lucky vehicles to head east for Sasquatch.  I intend to document the hell out of this festival so be prepared for a slew of photographs and video upon my return.

Justin Vernon, this will be the first time I see a show of yours.  Please bellow that falsetto like I know you can.

Enjoy Memorial Day Weekend, friends.
